Karmann Ghia renovation: Don’t you just love these!
Karmann Ghia renovation: This lovely little 74 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is factory right hand drive and finished in Zambesi green. She was found in Kawasaki Japan during our hunt for interesting cars, it had been delivered new to Yanase Japan the importer for Volkswagen and first registered July 1974. I’ve always had a soft spot for Karmann Ghia’s having purchased a Convertible project car when I was just 16 years old.
Arriving @Dillybrookcars early in 2015 the crew decided this Karmann Ghia needed a little renovation. The condition was good but not up to Dillybrook’s usual standard so it was decided a strip down and respray was required, along with some re-chroming, general mechanical work and detailing.
Off came the bumpers, lights and all chrome, then to the bodyshop for paint. This was such a solid Ghia that no welding was required, just the paint was showing signs of age.
Back from the paintshop and with new chrome fitted along with new rubber seals, fully detailed, serviced and ready to show off in Dillybrook’s showroom.
The Karmann Ghia did not hang around long and was soon off to a lady in Dublin.
